Wajaale is Somaliland's financial hub where most of the trade and intra-border businesses take place particularly between Somaliland and Ethiopia. This border city makes is strategically important for the local economy of Somaliland
The foreign currency exchanges are usually set in the streets of this vibrant city. As a consequence the effects are felt right through the whole region including Somaliland as well as Ethiopia and Djibouti.
